In 2010, nearly 10 million cosmetic procedures were performed in the United States alone. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery claims that the overall number of cosmetic procedures has increased by 147 percent since the tracking of the statistics first began. Clearly, the number of cosmetic surgeries is growing around the world. Knowing this, cosmetic surgery is becoming a part of people’s everyday life and sooner than later you will know someone how is going through that process.

Here is a list of the top 5 cosmetic surgeries in the US:

1.) Liposuction: Fatty deposits that cannot be removed by diet or exercise usually occur in areas such as the chin, chest, stomach, sides, back and thighs. Liposuction is a fat-removal procedure that aims to eradicate excessive stubborn fat from these hard-to-shift areas. Liposuction should be thought of as a sculpting procedure that can change the contours of your body or face. Some new nonsurgical or minimally invasive options for dealing with unwanted fat deposits, such as SmartLipo and acoustic wave therapy, have become increasingly popular. There were over 280,000 liposuction procedures performed in the US in 2010.

2.) Tummy Tuck: No amount of diet and exercise will get rid of excess skin. This is the reason the “tummy tuck” surgery has become so popular. Many women who go through a pregnancy or loose a lot of weight end up with excess skin in the mid section. The tummy tuck procedure removed excess fat and askin form around the waist to leave a flatter lower-body profile and younger looking abdomen. While scars are avoidable, it is very hard to get away without one. Most scars are below the bikini line and the patients are more than willing to trade a fatty stomach for a scar.

3.) Facelift: This procedure stems from the fact that people do not want to look older. A facelift or surgical removal or wrinkles, can reduce some of the more visible signs of aging. It will smooth the loose skin on a patients face and neck while tightening the underlying tissue. As a result, the face will appear firmer and fresher which will ultimately make you look younger.

4.) Eyelid Surgery: This procedure may be the least failure to you. It is a procedure to remove fatty (usually along with access skin and muscle) from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery can lift drooping lids and reduce the puffy “bags” that form below your eyes. Many times a patient will get this procedure done while they are getting another facial surgery like a facelift or a Rhinoplasty. With our obsession to look younger it’s not surprise this procedure makes the top 5 list.

5.) Breast Augmentation: With over 315,000 surgeries performed in 2010, breast surgery is the single most popular cosmetic surgery in the US. Breast augmentation aims to cosmetically enhance the size and shape of a woman’s breast using implants. Women get breast augmentation for numerous reasons; some are cosmetic and some are medical. There are also other kinds of cosmetic breast surgeries including breast lifts, breast reductions and nipple placement.

As you can see these cosmetic procedures all appeal to the individual who wants to look better. Cosmetic surgery is a great way to increase self esteem, look and feel younger and sexy as well as improve embarrassing body ailments.

Plastic surgery used to be reserved for the ultra-wealthy and people in critical need of surgery because of a severe injury. This is no longer the case as more and more everyday people, including teenagers, are getting plastic surgery and not feeling as though they need to hide it. This trend, as is the case with many others, seems to be emerging from Hollywood and the mainstream media. Actresses of old used to age naturally and one could at least estimate their age within 10 years or so. This is no longer the case as both men and women in the TV and film industry utilize human growth hormones, plastic surgery, and a variety of other treatments to beat the aging process. Many people feel that this trend has begun to have a significant impact on teenager perceptions of plastic surgery, and ultimately their likelihood of pursuing cosmetic procedures themselves.

It has been reported that while teenagers only make up 2% of plastic surgery patients in the US, the number of total teenagers having surgery performed has increased significantly over the last decade. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) reports that the number of procedures performed on teenagers 13 to 19 was up to 244,124 in 2006, almost double what it was in 2002. This is a rapid increase, and should be carefully considered.

While at initial glance this statistic may seem alarming, there are many other coinciding factors that could help explain the increase in teenage cosmetic surgery. The increasing availability of plastic surgeons, and the increasing flexibility in payment options could play a large role in this increase. As more surgeons become available to communities, and offer easier ways to pay for surgery, the ability for the average person to have a cosmetic procedure has dramatically increased. Another factor to consider is the increasing acceptability of having surgery to “correct” a personal feature one may be self-conscious about. The TV and film industry has helped pave the way for increased acceptance as it is almost expected that TV and film actors will have some work done during their career to keep pace with the rest of the industry.

With a seemingly irreversible trend toward trying to achieve physical perfection taking place in our society, there may be cases where plastic surgery is both appropriate and even beneficial for teenagers. Some procedures that are sometimes recommended include; rhinoplasty (nose job), otoplasty (ear surgery), breast reduction, gynecomastia, and microdermabrasion. The important thing that needs to be considered is the short-term risks and benefits versus the long-term risks and benefits. This can be a slippery slope because the amount of discomfort or emotional pain each teenager suffers is subjective to them, and must be weighed against the normal emotions all teenagers experience during adolescent development.

With the increasing expectation of beauty and perfection in our society, the pressures teenagers face to meet these expectations has also increased. As a result plastic surgery among teenagers is increasing, and as a society it is becoming more important for us to understand how to respond to this trend. It is crucial that parents to do ample research to understand these risks and benefits, and not let themselves be solely influenced by trends in the media or their local community. As with any medical issues, each person should do their own research and consult a physician before making any decisions regarding their health or lifestyle.

It is common to see many people who have been burned or born with deformities. These cases can be reconstructed with the help of plastic surgery. It is a process which involves changing the way some features in a person looks like.

There are many types of plastic surgery. Those people who would like to enhance the way they look like through changing some features prefer what is mainly referred as cosmetic surgery. But those who have got burned or who have been born with deformities go through reconstructive surgery as this is the only way that their looks can be corrected.

But why do people choose this option? Well, many people prefer this since it is a good way that ones self esteem can be improved. This mainly applies to that class of people who seek to undergo cosmetic surgery. Many people would rather remain the way they were born but for the sake of confidence, they opt for surgical methods of improving their facial looks.

Another major reason why people elect to undergo plastic surgery is when it comes to the deformities which have been sustained due to accidents, burns and also diseases. When this happens, it is imperative that the person be assisted get a good looking body just the way he or she was before the misfortune struck.

Plastic surgery is a costly affair. Before going through it, planning is necessary since it costs many times more than what people pay when it comes to other medical procedures. Whether its cosmetic or reconstructive surgery, it is important that you take into account the cost and if you do not have the amount to pay, you should seek alternative sources of financing.

While plastic surgery that deals with reconstruction can be covered by health insurance, cosmetic surgery, which is one type of elective surgery, is not covered. It is thus critical that you take into account your individual condition and come up with what suits you most!

There are some who have gone through this and have achieved their goal. However; it is advisable that you ensure you look at the bright and the dark side since of surgical methods, as it would help you decide the most feasible option. Every good thing has its bad side, hence you should endure that you get to understand every side of the coin.

But for the reconstructive surgery, this helps affected persons live a better life. Take for instance those people who were not able to move and got the help they needed through reconstructive surgery. There are some more people who have improved their eyesight through this type of surgery while others have got the chance to make good use of their hands.

Whether it is cosmetic or reconstructive, both men and women alike can benefit from this type of surgery. Every person would like to have his or her face look great as this will help boost the necessary amount of confidence.

If you can change just one thing about yourself to make you look youthful, what will it be? Maybe the crow’s feet at the corners of your eyes? Or the extra skin sagging from your chin to your neck? Or perhaps it is something about your body. Sagging upper arms? A little extra around the waist?

Whatever it is that’s making you feel and look older than you’d like to, it can probably be fixed. And if you are inclined to dismiss cosmetic surgery as too vain, too expensive, or too risky – stop. You owe it to yourself to find out more about the latest technologies and techniques a qualified plastic surgeon uses for individuals who wish to look and feel younger and healthier as they age.

1. The “obvious external benefits of cosmetic surgery are crucial but so are the less clear changes in how a person feels about themselves.” Looking good is nice; feeling good is nicer. Improvements to your face and body are natural “pick me ups” that last for years and years.

2. “State of the art technologies have made cosmetic surgery less painful, less invasive, and less noticeable.” Techniques such as endoscopy lead to less bruising, a lot less loss of blood, and smaller scars than older approaches.

3. “Having a smaller procedure, such as eyelid or brow lift may be all a person requires to look years younger.” The effects of age, sun, and gravity apply to our entire physical being. However, some effects are a lot more obvious than others and correcting one small thing may give us just the boost we require.

4. “It’s rarely too early to see a plastic surgeon.” For some people, the signs of aging appear all too early. For them, techniques such as Botox and facial fillers are one answer. A lot less invasive and less painful than a full face lift, these techniques could hold back the ravages of time and despite few occasional publicity, are good solutions – when done properly.

5. “It’s rarely too late to see a plastic surgeon.” Some individuals put off seeing a plastic surgeon for years. And that’s okay as long as they have quite good expectations of what cosmetic surgery could do for them. Body procedures such as breast, arm, butt, and thigh lift can be performed at virtually any age and take years of your appearance.

6. “There’s such a thing as too much plastic surgery.” Much of the negative feeling which people have about cosmetic surgery comes from seeing somebody who has gone too far. Few celebrities in particular carry their face lifts, breast augmentations, and other enhancements to extremes. No respectable plastic surgeon will agree to a surgery that’s too radical.

Whatever it is about your face or body you are unhappy with, you owe it to yourself to visit a Board Certified plastic surgeon. Begin by going to Dr. Diktaban’s site. You just might decide that cosmetic surgery is less about vanity and more about feeling good about yourself.

Plastic surgery is generally performed for either aesthetics or restorative surgery purpose. It deals with altering or rejuvenating the facial and bodily features that have been damaged in accident or because of some congenital defect. It could also be performed to alter facial features that the individuals are not comfortable with. A plastic surgery that has gone awry is known as a bad plastic surgery.

This is typically due to errors in the surgical procedures. It could also result because of wrong choices by either the patient or surgeon before the procedure. It is very easy to identify bad facial surgery, as it is visible and obvious. In case of facelifts that have become tight, it is apparent in the form of asymmetrical and tight appearance of face muscles. As a result of bad plastic surgery of the face, patients at times lose the mobility of facial features and it also hampers the sensation due to damaged nerves.

It is possible to make amends in a bad surgery by re-working the problem with another corrective surgery. However, serious problems as the case of a bad rhinoplasty are almost impossible to amend. It is important to note that repair job can only be done if there is enough tissue left for it. It is easier to camouflage plastic surgery that has gone bad in other unexposed parts of the body rather than the face.

Some of the effects of surgery gone askew are excessive scarring, deformation and in severe cases paralysis. Bad surgeries cause a lot of emotional and psychological damage to the patients. They enter into a guilt complex and feel that it was deserved, and a reprisal for their vanity of going for the surgery.

It is advisable to check the background of the surgeon before the surgery commitment is agreed upon. It is important to know the number of cases that have been performed before by the surgeon in a similar vein before placing trust on the practitioner.
